Stable House Studio resides in a gracious home which was originally a stable house. Built in 1880 the home is nestled in a garden setting with 100 year old trees located on the shore of Lake Ontario in historic Port Dalhousie. The property is within minutes of Lakeside Park known for its antique carousel, sandy beach and double piers.
Resident artist Barbara McMullen's colourful and textured oil paintings and soft pastels reflect the lifestyle and classic elements of old Port Dalhousie. Her daughter, India Fowler, lends her creative touch to simplistic photographic art of the region.
In association with the Pumphouse Visual Arts Centre in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Stable House is a popular destination in the May Studio Tour. Port Dalhousie artists will participate in a weekend of fine art displayed throughout this historic home, alongside resident artist Barbara McMullen.
Each August, Stable House and two adjacent gardens hosts Art in an Old Port Garden, a weekend art festival showcasing Niagara artists. Fine art is displayed within Stable House and outside in the various garden setting.
All shows are free to the public and Art in an Old Port Garden encourages local artists and artists to be to participate. |
